Routeware, Inc., the new home for Webaspx, is pleased to announce that Argyll and Bute Council has become the latest UK local authority to select Digital Depot as their waste management technology solution.
The solution will see the introduction of In-Cab technology into the authority’s 27 refuse collection vehicles, alongside cloud-based operations systems for round management and route optimisation.
With the introduction of this technology the council is seeking to improve the operational management of its domestic refuse and recycling service. Argyll and Bute’s operations cover the second largest local authority area in the country, deliver services across 23 inhabited islands, and is said to be home to the most beautiful refuse collection round in the UK.
The council is also in the process of adapting to changes in Scottish waste management legislation, such as the ban on Biodegradable Municipal Waste (BMW) in landfill and the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for drinks containers, and at the same time planning for the end of their waste disposal contract in 2026.
Digital Depot provides local authorities with modern, joined-up, easy-to-use systems that let waste and environmental teams design lower cost services, work more efficiently, and empower citizens to engage more effectively with waste and recycling services.
Thomas Moffat, UK Sales Director for Routeware said: “We are really pleased to be working with Argyll and Bute as they navigate the changing waste management landscape in Scotland. We look forward to helping their team continue to deliver efficient and effective refuse and recycling services to their communities.”
Argyll and Bute Council is the 12th new UK authority to select Routeware in the last year and joins a Routeware customer community of over 100 councils, including half of the 32 local authorities in Scotland.
