Swindon Borough Council has launched a new online recycling tool to help residents correctly identify the most effective way to dispose of waste items.
Available on the council’s website, the new tool will allow citizens to quickly find the best way to recycle their item or dispose of it properly. The information provided is specific to their postcode.
The Waste Wizard tool, provided by Routeware, contains detailed information on hundreds of items with predictive search and synonym detection, which makes it much easier for residents to find the correct information.
The council are currently in the process of making changes to waste and recycling collections as they roll out weekly food waste to most households in Swindon. The new tool will help ensure the information provided to residents over this period is clear, up-to-date, and easy to access.
The new Waste Wizard will also make it quicker and easier for the internal team to support and maintain up-to-date item lists and information and will provide data and analytics to help optimise the council’s recycling education and communications over time.
Thomas Moffat, UK Sales Director for Routeware said: “We are really pleased to be helping Swindon provide easier ways for their citizens to find the information they need to recycle right. The online tool will help educate residents and reduce instances of recycling contamination and wishcycling.”
